Best Faction in BRIGANDINE ABYSS
There is no S-tier nation. There is a best first Story Mode campaign.
BRIGANDINE ABYSS does not have an objective best faction that wins every war on Meltitea. Story Mode is six narrative campaigns. Mission Mode is twenty-four nations with wildly different win conditions. Ranking Gran Dragnica above Scarlet Will as if they were ladder heroes misses how Adglobe built the game. This page answers a narrower question: which Story Mode campaign should you start, and when should you pick the others.
The game is single-player. Happinet and NIS America published Adglobe’s release on August 26, 2026 for PC and August 27 for consoles. You are not drafting a PvP team. You are choosing a story, then later a Mission Mode puzzle. Read the Faction Overview for leaders and lands, and Story Campaigns for Event Battles and the Abyssloa plot. Game Modes explains why Story and Mission saves are separate.
Best first campaign: Gran Dragnica or Scarlet Will
Gran Dragnica (Largo, dragon tamers on barren wilds) and Scarlet Will (Garnet, justice mercenaries with unicorns on the southwestern grasslands) are the two demo factions. That is the practical reason they are the best first campaigns. The demo already taught their opening hours. Largo’s fight to free brainwashed dragons and Garnet’s rise after her father’s death are complete stories, but they were also the onboarding path Happinet shipped to players before launch.
Scarlet Will is the beginner-friendly pick if you want a mercenary company and a clearer tutorial tone. Gran Dragnica is the pick if the dragon-tamer fantasy is why you are here. Neither is a baby mode that skips Event Battles. Fail an Event Battle and that campaign is still over. Story members still join automatically. Some nations still cannot be invaded until events fire.
If you have never played a Brigandine-style season map, start with one of these two, then open How to Play and the Campaign Walkthrough so early seasons are about learning Rally and bases rather than fighting the interface. Rally is the combat layer you will use in every campaign.
Mysteine: the continent-watch campaign
Pick the Queendom of Mysteine when you want the guardian-of-the-continent fantasy. Zeilzarde is the Queen’s Guardian. The small realm was founded by the sorcerer Lunadea, who forged the Brigandine. Continent-watch duty is the theme. It is not the demo onboarding path, and it is not weaker or stronger in a ranked sense. It is the story about the people who were supposed to watch the relic Chaossolus later steals.
Mysteine is available from the start. You do not unlock it by beating Garnet or Largo. If that fantasy is your reason to play, you can start here. The usual advice is only that Gran Dragnica and Scarlet Will were demo-tested for first-time commanders.
Pandemyuon: the chimera campaign
Pick Pandemyuon when you want the unusual story. TYPE-F is a chimera-created boy who defects after meeting a sacred maiden. The nation is secret chimera research tied to Chaossolus. This is not a polished kingdom with a different banner. It is the lab-born protagonist walking away from the project that made him.
Pandemyuon is a poor “best faction” in the power-ranking sense because Story Mode does not work that way. It is an excellent first campaign if the chimera plot is what you came for. It is a worse first campaign only if you wanted the demo’s tutorial framing. Game8 still estimates about thirty hours. The other five campaigns still exist afterward for another hundred-plus hours total.
Purifanoe and the Samura Clan
Purifanoe (Alicebelle / Alysbelle, hidden fairy village, slow time in a great forest) and the Samura Clan (Saya, eastern Mihashira warrior culture, isolated island, rivaled by the Shugen Clan) are full Story Mode campaigns, not side modes. They are not beginner flags in the official materials the way Scarlet Will is. Choose them when their lands are the story you want: forest fairies, or an island warrior clan staring at ninja and onmyoji rivals.
Playing Samura in Story Mode does not replace playing the Shugen Clan in Mission Mode. Shugen is a separate Mission Mode nation. Purifanoe does not need a power ranking either. Time moving slowly inside the village is flavor and structure, not a hidden easy setting.
Mission Mode is a different question
“Best faction” in Mission Mode depends on the win condition, not on a universal tier. Twenty-four nations, unique objectives, typically ninety-nine seasons. Full map control is only one rule. Reviews also describe raising specific bases, selling items, repaying debt each season, collecting every monster species, class or character restrictions, twenty-season world conquest, and Event Battle sequences. A nation that feels gentle on a short conquest can be brutal on a debt clock.
The six Story Mode nations are inside those twenty-four. You do not get thirty unique countries. Abyssloa, Ergennacht, Ragnelritter, Leshanna, Thousand Cane, Banlienshen, Alkis Sky Caravan, Ebony Fang, Noble Enhance, Kuklock, Delzia Clan, Kelmoon, Centuria, Luon Hearts, Glaudi, Akasha, Talentis, and Brigand are official Mission Mode identities, not Story Mode campaigns. The Faction Tier List can discuss matchups; it cannot declare an S-tier that wins every Mission Mode rule.
Army building still goes through Classes and Monsters. For whether the Story-plus-Mission split is worth your time at launch, see the review.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to common questions about BRIGANDINE ABYSS.
Is there an S-tier faction that wins everything?
No. Story Mode is six narratives. Mission Mode difficulty depends on each nation's unique win condition. Treat "best faction" as "best first campaign," not a ladder rank.
What is the best first Story Mode campaign?
Gran Dragnica or Scarlet Will. Both are demo factions. Scarlet Will is the beginner-friendly mercenary path. Gran Dragnica is the dragon-tamer path.
When should I pick Mysteine or Pandemyuon first?
Pick Mysteine first if you want continent-watch duty as Lunadea's queendom. Pick Pandemyuon first if you want TYPE-F's chimera defection. Both are available from the start.
Does the Faction Tier List tell me which Story Mode campaign to start?
Use it as a companion, not as a substitute for Story Mode. Start with Gran Dragnica or Scarlet Will unless a specific fantasy (Mysteine, Pandemyuon, Purifanoe, Samura) is why you bought the game.
